“Ten minutes to make, ten minutes to bake”

Trips to Super G are can be an adventure for shoppers—you can buy kimchee and get your eyebrows threaded all under one roof. But have you ever taken time to sit and get to know the others who work and shop there? Throughout January 2011, mother and daughter team, Lois and Jody will be baking scones and sharing teatime with people who drop by their booth in the Super G flea market.

Lois has been baking scones for as long as Jody can remember—she is “famous” for them on Jersey shore. People request her to make them for meals, fundraisers, and special events. Jody has consumed many scones in her lifetime, but has never made them with her mother. This month Lois will be teaching Jody and any other people who want to learn how to make these tasty Scottish tea biscuits. Baking ingredients will be sourced from the shelves of the Super G. New flavors will be mixed into each batch including raisins and other dried fruits, nuts, and herbs that are plentiful at the market. After the scones are baked, shoppers can sit and relax, nibble on a fresh scone spread with delicious jam, and sip a cup of hot tea while meeting new acquaintances

Tea time hours are Wednesdays from 3-5 pm and Saturdays from 2-4 pm, plus any other times the duo feels like making scones.
