Josue A. Roman, a.k.a. Tico, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and raised in Puerto Rico. He served in the Armed Forces for thirty years as an enlisted Soldier retiring as a Command Sergeant Major in January 2009.
He is a resident of Greensboro, N.C., recently earning B.F.A. in Design from UNCG. 2010. Josue initiated his photography training with the military in 1987 and 1991. He decided to make photography a second career as he was approaching military retirement.
He is a sports photojournalist with the Carolinian and continues as a photographer and designer for AltaSky LLC Digital and Multimedia Solutions covering sports, weddings and other events. His photographs have been exhibited numerously and have received accolades and recognition.
For the Super G Program, Josue will be continuing his photo-documentary book project, Faces of Immigrants. This projects is about recent immigrants living in North Carolina and their response to two questions: What they miss the most from their country and what they like the most of the United States.
When completed, The Faces of Immigrants will be launched publicly. A special book-signing event will take place at the Super G Experiential Residency.
